The Enhance Hamilton County Foundation has announced a change in their 2016 Grant process with applications now to be available for download off their website (enhancehamiltoncounty.org) starting October 15th at 5 pm. The deadline for the applications to be submitted for consideration is December 31, 2015, by 5 pm. Grant monies will be distributed in March 2016 instead of April as was done in previous years.
“This change was made to provide organizations more time to plan for their grant requests and to allow them to incorporate into their 2016 budgeting process that many of them work on at year end,” said Darcy Swon, Development Director for the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation. “With the change, we are hoping that organizations will look at opportunities to create a long-term positive impact to not only assist with their organization’s sustainability but to improve the quality of life for those in Hamilton County as well.”
The purpose of the Enhance Hamilton County grant program is to provide philanthropic support for community betterment projects throughout Hamilton County. Since the Foundation was established in 2005, the Foundation has awarded over $800,000 to assist organizations with completion of worthwhile projects located throughout Hamilton County as identified through a community grants application process. Swon stated that the areas of emphasis include: Arts and Culture, Community Betterment, Education, Health and Human Services, Recreation and Environment, and Youth Development.
Organizations that are not a 501c3 or a governmental entity will need to partner with one to be considered for grant monies.
The Enhance Hamilton County Foundation was formed as an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines in 2005. The founding members had a vision to ensure that the communities’ charitable programs were supported today and into the future. In addition to the grant awards, the Foundation works with many individuals, families, businesses and organizations to establish endowment funds to improve the quality of life throughout Hamilton County as well as promote charitable giving and connecting donors with causes they care about.
